We are a not-for-profit association with the aim of advancing education throughout the Northern Territory by building the capacity of NT educators through the power, collegiality and expertise of professional teaching associations.
PTANT works closely with the major education stakeholders in the Territory, including the Department of Education and Training, the Teacher Registration Board NT, Catholic Education and independent schools. By their nature, associations work across sectors, across all learning areas and across all stages of schooling – so we have our fingers on the pulse!
PTANT is led by a voluntary board and is supported by an Executive Officer employed through the Department of Education and Training. This model allows for the knowledge and expertise of committed educators to sit on the board, with administrative and executive duties supported by a full time staff member.
Our work is guided by our Strategic Plan which aligns our work to wider education priorities. We meet regularly with the Department of Education and Training and annual with the relevant minister to ensure our work best supports the teaching and learning of Territory students through supporting teachers and educators.
